Kindergarten

Assalamualaikum,

My name is Sumaiya Zaman, and I am honored to be part of the Hudson Valley Islamic School community. As I begin my fourth year at HVIS, I am grateful to continue serving our students and families in a school that values both academic excellence and Islamic character. I have nearly 14 years of experience working with young children and hold a Master of Science degree from Mercy University through the Tri-Certification Program in Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 2), Childhood Education (Grades 1–6), and Teaching Students with Disabilities.

My journey at HVIS began as a classroom volunteer during the school’s first year before transitioning into a teaching role. Since then, I have taught Pre-K 3, where I developed the school’s Pre-K 3 curriculum, as well as a combined Kindergarten and First Grade class.

This year, I am excited to teach Kindergarten while also serving as HVIS’s Special Education Teacher, supporting students with diverse learning needs through differentiated and individualized instruction. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported while growing academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
